Lonely Girl

midnight in a blue world
in the highest glass castle
far beyond the rabble
wind drowns out the battles
we fight between our headphones

piece by piece
ashes drip
embers wisp to endlessness

cigarette pressed to trembling lips
moonlight diamonds
chain link fists
howling traffic
halfhearted kisses

makes me pine for neon bugs
far below
on the road is where this heart yearns to be
but i’ve wasted all my wishes
on empty days
and better things

3AM is when the city sleeps
and i can breathe

the clouds are gone
finally
stars above
i’ll never reach
